In this one-hour online spices workshop led Drs. Linda Shiue and Sabrina Falquier, who are both physicians and chefs, you’ll learn about the health benefits of spices so you can confidently add them to your meals. Get ready for a plant-based Mexican fiesta presented by Dr. Sabrina Falquier plus some Spanish and Middle Eastern flavors from Dr. Shiue. On the menu is Mexican Hash with Salsa and Cashew Chipotle Cream, Smoky Spanish Chickpeas and homemade Za'atar.
Whether or not you're new to cooking, this livestream will provide valuable culinary and medical insights about spices to help you deliciously optimize your health. Cook along or sit back, relax and make the dishes at your convenience using the written recipes we provide you.

About Dr. Shiue: Dr. Linda Shiue is a physician, chef and founder of a teaching kitchen for patients at a medical center in San Francisco, where she is the first Director of Culinary Medicine. She believes that the best medicine is prevention. Her cooking classes showcase seasonal produce, lavishly flavored with spices and fresh herbs. Her food writing has been published widely and she has been interviewed frequently on television and in print. Her debut cookbook, Spicebox Kitchen: Eat Well and Be Healthy with Globally Inspired, Vegetable-Forward Recipes, was published in March, 2021. Dr. Shiue has served as faculty at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Stanford University and serves on the board of the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank. She is a graduate of Brown University, San Francisco Cooking School, UCSF and the kitchen of Michelin-starred restaurant, Mourad, in San Francisco. She also has a Certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from Cornell University.
About Dr. Falquier: Dr. Falquier is a multilingual and multicultural double board certified physician in both internal medicine and culinary medicine. She is the founder and owner of Sensations Salud, LLC which focuses on empowering through nutritional knowledge and culinary literacy. She is trained through the Harvard School of Public Health, the Culinary Institute of America and Health Meets Food for her Culinary Medicine Board Certification.
Dr. Falquier is highly involved with Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center in National City, California, a non-profit organization that empowers all age groups through gardening, nutrition and culinary literacy. Dr. Falquier promotes culinary medicine throughout San Diego and internationally in a variety of ways and to varied age groups and audiences including: lectures, expert panels, cooking demonstrations, recipe development, hands-on cooking events, live and virtual, and active social media presence. She is a board member of the Chef de Cuisine Education Foundation with which she co-coordinated a Cooking With Chef series created to combat childhood obesity. Additionally, she is also a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier International and has been interviewed regarding food and health by media outlets including the Washington Post, The Union Tribune, Edible San Diego, San Diego Magazine, CBS news, Sharp Health News and TeleMundo.
