This program is primarily intended for students entering grades 2 and 3 who want a “refresher” before school starts. It is also ideal for new students who would like to experience the spirit of Math classroom, or establish some skills before starting the school-year evening classes. Content includes addition and multiplication drills, number theory topics such as regrouping and mental math and mental math, and problem solving topics such as consecutive number problems, counting shapes, date problems, cuts and pieces, and integers.
Basic Skills & Problem Solving II
Grades 4 – 6
9 AM to 12 PM
The program is primarily intended for students entering grades 4, 5 or 6 who want a “refresher” before school starts. It is also ideal for new students who would like to experience the Spirit of Math classroom, or establish some skills before starting the school-year evening classes. Content includes integer addition and multiplication drills, number theory topics such as relocation, integers, primes, divisibility rules, lowest common multiples, and a large variety of problem solving topics, including Venn diagrams and date problems.
Robotics & Lego - Power/Parts
Grades 2 to 3
1 to 4 PM
Course Description: To find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy! Capture energy from the sun to power a race car. Harness the wind to light up the classroom. Is there energy in your body we can use? Build devices that store and convert energy into all its fun forms. Compress air, spin spinners, lift with lifters, pull back springs and let them go! We need energy to do it all! Join today and unlock your potential as an energy experimenter extraordinaire!
Robotics & Coding - Dash the Mathematician
Graes 4 - 6
1 to 4 PM
Course Description: Math is a blast when you're using Dash, the expert mathematician! Learn how to use Dash's intuitive programming language to create patterns, improve estimation skills, test probability, solve mazes, and create mathematical music. Review sequences by creating your own story about math. Learn to master the use of variables that can count, add, multiply. Use percentages to shoot hoops in basketball. Learn to create algorithms that give Dash mathematical intelligence that can't be achieved with only the basics. Come multiply your coding and math skills and have fun with robots along the way!
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Minimum grade is students who will start grade 2 to 6 in September 2017 school year.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There are plenty of parking spaces.
What can I bring into the event?
If attending only morning or afternoon classes, just a snack and beverages for the students. I full day, two snacks and one serving of lunch.
