Event Details

Batuki Music Society presents Spiritual Songs of Sub-Saharan Africa, a concert that will portray the evolving nature of African music from traditional roots to modern. Emphasis here is on the spiritual music of Africa versus the modern forms of popular music influenced by western tradition and gospel.

Showcasing a stellar diversity of voices - Katenen Cheka Dioubate, Netsanet Mellesse, Blandine Mbiya, Frederica Ackah, Evelyn Mukwedeya, Memory Makuri and Ruth Mathiang.

Supporting cast of musicians - Kofi Ackah, Donne Roberts, Tichaona Maredza, Quandoe Harrison, Fantahun Shewankochew, Amadou Kienou and Ruben Esguerra.

Batuki Music Society is an incorporated non-profit community-based organization that promotes African music and art through performances at music venues throughout the year and culminating into a weekend festival at the end of the programming season. The organization actively seeks out local artists and works with them by music recording, touring and management.
