Event description

Description

As Benjamin Franklin famously put it, Americans have a republic, if they can keep it. Preserving the Constitution and the democratic system it supports is the public’s responsibility. One route the Constitution provides for discharging that duty—a route rarely traveled—is impeachment.

With an eye toward the past and the future, Impeachment: A Citizen’s Guide considers a host of actual and imaginable arguments for a president’s removal, explaining why some cases are easy and others hard, why some arguments for impeachment have been judicious and others not. In direct and approachable terms, it dispels the fog surrounding impeachment and provides a succinct citizen’s guide to an essential tool of self-government.

Hosted by SPPG faculty member George Vegh, the SPPG Alumni Book Club will discuss Impeachment: A Citizen's Guide by Cass Sunstein and investigate this very timely topic.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, March 22 from 7 pm to 9 pm EST. We encourage you to attend if you haven't had a chance to read the book but still wish to engage in discussion. Check out this short excerpt!

We hope to see you out on March 22! We will send out the address shortly before the event via eventbrite. If you do not receive it please contact us (a.steindorff@gmail.com or zach.lewsen@gmail.com).

Cheers,

Alexandra Steindorff and Zachary Lewsen
