Spring Campfire Community Series for Educators
Date and time
Are you an educator? Are you curious about forest & nature school? Come play, learn, grow & network with us!
About this event
Gather 'round the campfire with other nature-minded educators for a few hours at one of our two Campfire Community events for educators this spring!
We welcome anyone who considers themselves an "educator" (teacher / professor at any level, RECE / ECE, EA, etc.) and wants to learn more about the Forest and Nature School (FNS) model and how to incorporate it into their teaching/setting.
This event is meant to be a networking gathering that will incite growth & change in your practice, and help us shape & plan future forest & nature school events for educators. You can expect:
- a tour of Kingston Forest & Nature School (KFNS)
- an opportunity to chat with the facilitators of KFNS
- an opportunity to network with other nature-minded educators
- campfire conversations that incite change & growth
- a voice in future educator events at KFNS
- a few hours to feel like a kid again
- a goody bag with over $25 worth of credits/discounts on outdoor learning gear, resources & more!
- a chance to win an amazing door prize
(Thanks to our generous sponsors: Trailhead Kingston, Go Green Baby, The Outdoor Learning Store, the Outdoor School Shop, The Rocking Horse Kingston, and Brockville Wings)
In Summer 2022, Monica Miller, founder of KFNS, plans to co-host a day of presentations & workshops with Caylin Gans, of Forest Schooled, around the FNS model, risky play, loose parts play, and bringing nature into your practice/setting. Your enthusiastic participation in one of these Campfire Community events will directly affect & benefit everyone's experience of the summer presentations & workshops.
The cost to participate is $25/person or the equivalent value in nature-based books for the bookshelves in the yurt (can be gently used). You will receive a goody bag worth more than your ticket price, thanks to our sponsors! Proceeds help us to support more kids in the outdoors & sustainably plan more events like this one.
KFNS staff will be waiting to greet you in the clearing. More information, including a schedule of the day, will be provided to registered participants.
You must register in advance in order to attend.
