How can climate solutions address reconciliation in their effort to make a positive impact on the climate emergency and what are the most important issues facing BC First Nations and other local communities that researchers, industry, government and innovators can work towards for a more sustainable future?
Join entrepreneurship@UBC and the Climate Venture Studio Wednesday, April 20th at UBC Point Grey for an in-person Spring Social and Fireside Chat with Bob Chamberlin, Former Chief Councillor, Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis First Nation and Vice-President, Union of BC Indian Chiefs, in conversation with Climate Venture Studio Lead Dr. Shannon Bard.
RSVP to learn from Bob on the opportunities for the co-creation of climate solutions, ways the community can contribute to reconciliation and how early-stage ventures can build relationships with diverse communities.

Bob Chamberlin is the Former Chief Councillor, Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis First Nation and Vice-President, Union of BC Indian Chiefs.
Moderator: Dr. Shannon Bard
Dr. Shannon Bard has over 30 years experience in innovation and R&D in climate solutions, environmental sustainability, ecosystem & human health. Shannon was previously the global Director of Innovation for the environmental consulting firm Hemmera and parent engineering company Ausenco. She developed and launched a global corporate Innovation Program for >2000 staff to undertake industrial-academic-government R&D collaborations to develop and commercialize new science and engineering services to solve sustainability issues. She oversaw a Board-directed innovation incubator to invest in applying new technologies and approaches, including AI, automation, data analytics, clean tech, VR/AR & digital solutions, biological and genomic tools to reduce the environmental footprint of industry activities. Formerly, Shannon was a professor of Environmental Science at Dalhousie University, Director of the Marine Ecotoxicology Laboratory and co-winner of the Senate Environmental Award.

This event will be hosted in person at Jack Poole Hall on the second floor of the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre on UBC Point Grey Campus (get directions). Note that we will have a photographer on site to capture images and a recording of the event.
