SSMU Mask Distribution
Event Information
About this event
Ordering Information
Please review this information carefully before ordering your masks. If all relevant instructions are not followed, your order may be cancelled.
Eligibility
Masks are now available to all McGill students! Because these masks are currently limited, we are requiring that all orders be placed using your @mail.mcgill.ca email address so that we can confirm your status as a student. Orders not placed with a @mail.mcgill.ca email address will be cancelled. You will also be asked to provide your McGill ID number.
Limits on Order Quantity
Because of the settings of Eventbrite, the platform allows multiple sizes of masks to be ordered by one party checking out, but our distribution will not allow for this. Any order that contains more than one size will be canceled.
About these masks
These masks are respirator-style masks and will be distributed in packs of 10. They are not medical N95 masks, but when tested, they offer ≥95% particulate filtration, which is well above what can be expected of a surgical/procedural-style mask. These masks are not intended to be worn by individuals working in the medical field, who typically wear fit-tested N95 masks, but we have chosen them with the goal of being able to provide protection at a level that is appropriate for our students in non-medical settings. Information on their testing performance can be found here.
Determining Your Mask Size
We have three sizes of mask available. While the Medium and Large sizes fit most adults, you will be most comfortable and best protected in a mask that fits you well, so consider this size information as you order. More information about each size is below.
Small/510: Fits smaller-faced adults, petite adults, teens, and youth 11+. Click here for more detailed measurements from the manufacturer.
Medium/508: Fits most adults. Click here for more detailed measurements from the manufacturer.
Large: Fits most adults with medium-large faces. Click here for more detailed measurements from the manufacturer.
Picking Up Your Mask
Masks are available for pick-up January 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., January 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, and January 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. When ordering, you'll be asked to select your pick-up slot first. Then you'll be able to indicate the size you are ordering and what, if anything, you'd like to contribute. If one time slot is out of your desired size, it may still be available during others. Please pick up your mask during the time you signed up for.
Making Contributions
Pay What You Can
These masks are being distributed on a pay-what-you-can basis, with no one turned away due to inability to pay. One pack of masks costs approximately $17, but contributions of any size are encouraged and will help us continue to provide masks.
Donations
We have also had community members inquire about making a donation towards this program to increase the number of masks we can offer to students. If you would like to do so, all contributions will go towards purchasing additional PPE for students and providing them on a pay-what-you-can basis.
If you are making a donation, you can select any time slot and enter the amount you would like to donate in the donation field at the bottom and proceed to checkout. Eventbrite will process your donation immediately after check-out. You can disregard the time slot through which you donated. Thank you!
