Event description

Description

Henna dye has been used to beautify hands and feet since antiquity. In this workshop you will not only learn to draw traditional henna art flowers, leaves and swirls, but it will also give you a chance to experiment on your own skin or that of a trusting friend. Henna is an all-natural, plant based dye that as been used to colour hair, skin, nails and cloth. When applied, henna paste is dark brown or black, but when it’s removed, the stain turns anywhere from bright orange to rich brown in two to three days. Henna stains last an average of 10 days. After that, you’ll have a fresh canvas to create a brand new design!

Allergy Alert: This workshop is not suitable for those with allergies to essential oils; including tea tree oil and lavender.

  • Age Restrictions: this workshop is for youth Grade 7 to age 21

Erin Spiller

Erin Spiller started practising henna nine years ago when she was first introduced to the artform during a career day workshop at school. Since then she joined the St. Albert Amplify Festival Youth Advisory Committee and has become Amplify’s resident henna artist, providing hundreds of designs every year for festival-goers! She loves the art form because it’s a natural and versatile form with years of history and cultural influence. And because it’s beautiful!
