STAFF 112: Safer Lifts and Transfers

STAFF 112: Safer Lifts and Transfers (4 hours) This course will provide a refresher of hands on skills and updated techniques. Participants are advised to wear comfortable footwear. Topics that are discussed/practiced include: Principles of safer body mechanics The difference between lifts and transfers How injuries can occur to care providers Recognition of high risk client care activities Using a Hoyer lift, sit-stand lift, and ceiling track lift Assisting a client with a variety of manual transfers Identification of factors that contribute to client falls Falls prevention in the community Please be advised that we need atleast 5 participants in order to successfully conduct the session. Please note: Participants are expected to arrive on time for sessions in which they have registered for. Participants who do not arrive within the fifteen (15) minute grace period, will not be permitted to attend the training. The door of the training room will be closed, and late participants will be asked to sign up for the next session which fits their schedule.

Safer Lifts and Transfers (3.5 hours)

This course will provide a refresher of hands on skills and updated techniques.

*Participants are expected to sign into the session 5 minutes before the start of the session. To reduce interruptions during the session, no one will be admitted after 15 minutes of the start of the session. It is recommended that participants test their systems before the start of the session, to ensure their technology will work. Joining the session with your microphone and camera on (if possible) is recommended to get the most out of each session. You can join from your smartphone, laptop or tablet. Calling in on the telephone line is not recommended. A minimum of 5 participants is required in order to run a session.
