SPEAKERS

Dr. Deborah MacNamara

Deborah provides counselling and educational services to parents and professionals based on the relational-developmental approach of Dr. Gordon Neufeld. She is on Faculty at the Neufeld Institute and presents on all of the Neufeld material. She is the author of the bestselling book, Rest, Play, Grow: Making Sense of Preschoolers (or anyone who acts like one).

Deborah is a dynamic teacher and experienced counsellor with over 20 years of experience in educational and mental health settings. She is passionate in taking developmental science and making it applicable to everyday life in the home and classroom. The underlying purpose of all services is to put adults in the driver’s seat by making sense of kids from the inside out. From everyday questions to complex problems, strategies for making headway with a child or teen is grounded in a rich developmental framework.

Dr. Jennifer Charlesworth
Dr. Jennifer Charlesworth is British Columbia’s Representative for Children and Youth. Jennifer has worked in the B.C. social and health care sectors since 1977 in front-line child welfare, social policy, program management and executive roles and was engaged in formative work on deinstitutionalization and community inclusion for people with disabilities, women’s and girls’ health, mental health and youth services. As part of her extensive background in the service of children, Jennifer has taught child and youth care at the University of Victoria, has been the Executive Director of the Federation of Community Social Services of BC, and is the founder of the Leadership 2020 program for the Federation. She has also been involved with InWithForward, and, for the past two years, has been working with Chief Wedlidi Speck and other leaders to inspire culturally safer workplaces for Indigenous staff and people served. Jennifer has a PhD in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria, and an MBA from Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, England. She is the parent of two vibrant young women who remind her daily of the power and promise of young people.

This is an ADULT ONLY event. Please speak to your Resource Worker in regards to childcare reimbursement.

Tickets for this event are limited. Should you need to cancel your registration please notify us or cancel your registration online ASAP to ensure your spot goes to the next person on the waitlist. We understand that sometimes things happen at the last minute that prevent you from being able to attend an event and we thank you for the courtesy of sending us an email notifying us of that. Registration lists, attendance lists, cancellation lists and "no show" lists are recorded and submitted to Resource Workers upon their request.

Are children allowed at this event?

No. Absolutely no children are allowed at the event, regardless of their age. The content of the material and the learning environment are not conducive to children of any age being present.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Pay parking is available in the hotel parking garage for a small fee. The sky train is also within a very short walking distance and buses run frequently

What's the refund policy?

"Free" tickets can be refunded at any time prior to the event. Paid tickets can be reimbursed up until one month prior to the event. No-shows may be restricted from registering in future years.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. Registration lists will be present on the morning of the event and you will sign in using the name you registered with.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, you can update your registration information.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Can I register for only one day of the two day conference?

Yes, you may attend day one, day two, or both days of the conference. For paid tickets, there is no reduced fee if you choose to attend only one of two days. You will select which day(s) during registration. To update your registration, please email bfoyle@hollyburn.ca

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, but it is best if you make the changes to your registration information ahead of time. If not, please notify us at the registration desk so we can make the appropriate changes to our records, and ensure our certificates are accurate.

Will lunch be provided?

Yes! A buffet lunch is being provided on both days.

Why don't I see any "breaks" being listed during the workshops?

We feel that scheduled breaks often interupt the natural flow and momentum of the learning environment. Instead, we encourage everyone to take small breaks as they are needed throughout the day at their own pace and prefered time.
