Event description

Description

Join us for the opening of stay, a collection of photo-narratives from the Man-Up Against Suicide project [manupagainstsuicide.ca] contributed by men with direct experiences of suicidal thoughts along with men and women who have lost a man to suicide.

Refreshments will be served. Live performance by Jon Ochsendorf.

If you can't make the opening reception, the exhibit will also be running at the Orange Art Gallery from September 20 - 23, 11 am to 4 pm.

About the Project

stay is the collection of narratives, photographs, videos, and exhibits that were created as part of the Man-Up Against Suicide Project. We collected photos and narratives from 80 Canadian men and women. In sharing perspectives about male suicide, this project aims to de-stigmatize men's mental illness and lobby targeted male suicide prevention programs. Man-Up Against Suicide has been displayed in the UK and across Canada with 12 exhibitions to date.

Man-Up Against Suicide is made possible thanks to generous support from the Movember Foundation, and is based at the University of British Columbia's Men's Health Research program.
