Event description
Virtual StemCellTalks symposium (StemCellTalksYYC x University of British Columbia)

About this event

In association with Let's Talk Science and the University of British Columbia, StemCellTalks Calgary is hosting our 8th annual symposium with a focus on stem cells and the respiratory system. This free symposium aims to educate high school students about stem cells and inspire them about academic research through the excitement and experience of trainees and investigators. Taking place on a virtual format for the first time, the StemCellTalks symposium will be on Thursdasy, May 13th, 2021.

The day consists of guest speaker talks, a Careers in Science panel discussion, and demonstrations! High school students will have the opportunity to interact with graduate students from the Univeristy of Calgary and British Columbia and researchers investigating stem cells from all across Canada. This opportunity is an excellent way for students who are interested in biology, stem cells and research to engage with leading researchers in stem cells and discover the world of research at the University of Calgary.

In 2019, we registered 229 students and teachers from 15 Calgary area schools, making our event one of the largest in Canada for the fourth year running. We hope that you can be a part of our event this year!

This event is targeted for high school students. If you are in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at the U of C and would like to be involved as a volunteer please contact us at sctalkscalgary@gmail.com.
