Are you considering obtaining funding to bring your research to market or to expand your business? As a STEM entrepreneur and researcher, finding funding opportunities has always been a challenge. Despite being highly skilled in developing innovative technology, the path you need to undertake in order to bring your research to market is daunting.

On Thursday, April 26th District 3 Innovation Centre, along with its valued partners will be giving a presentation to help you take advantage of the various entrepreneurial and funding opportunities provided by government and supporting institutions.

We will be joined by our valued partners, the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP), Government of Canada’s Concierge service, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC).

Funding Programs:

Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP):

The Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP) helps Canadian companies of all sizes move their state-of-the-art goods and services from the laboratory to the marketplace. The program helps innovators: land a first major reference sale, sell their innovation, but keep the intellectual property, get their innovation tested in a real-life setting, gain feedback to help get products to market faster. The program pays up to $500,000 to $1,000,000 for innovations.

Government of Canada’s Concierge:

Are you creating a new innovative product, process or service to grow your business or start a new one? Maybe you are adapting technology or finding a new way to grow your business, increase revenues, find new markets, increase market share or add more employees. Concierge is a single access point to funding, expertise, facilities, and global opportunities for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking to grow through innovation. The only service of its kind in Canada, it offers free, one-on-one assistance from expert advisors who provide customized guidance in selecting the most relevant programs and services to help you grow your business.

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC):

NSERC promotes the competitiveness of 3,000 Canadian companies by contributing to the funding of cooperative R&D projects led by scientists and engineers at universities and colleges across the country. Come meet NSERC to help you increase your innovation through research partnerships or hiring interns.

Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC):

Innovative Solutions Canada is a new program with over $100 million dedicated to supporting the scale up and growth of Canada’s innovators and entrepreneurs by having the federal government act as a first customer. Twenty participating federal departments and agencies will set aside a portion of funding to support the creation of innovative solutions by Canadian small businesses. Innovative Solutions Canada is aimed squarely at innovators. By funding proposed solutions, the program is supporting the development of early-stage, pre-commercial innovations.
