Please join the International Joint Commission and the Twin Port region’s organizations, governments and citizens who are working to protect the region’s water resources. Learn about key successes and challenges for the community’s waters, and contribute your views about the health and vitality of Lake Superior and the Great Lakes. The evening includes:

  • IJC welcome

  • Welcome from local leaders

  • Panel discussion: the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement in Action in the Twin Ports region

    • Lucinda Johnson, Associate Director, University of Minnesota, Duluth Natural Resource Research Institute, Director, Water Initiative, and International Joint Commission Great Lakes Science Advisory Board Science Priority Committee member

    • Nancy Schuldt, Water Projects Coordinator, Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Environmental Program

    • Andrew Slade, Great Lakes Program Director, Minnesota Environmental Partnership

    • Barb Huberty, St. Louis River Area of Concern Coordinator, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Remediation Division

  • Public comment period to provide statements or ask questions of the panelists.

The International Joint Commission is a Canada-United States treaty organization that works on issues facing boundary waters, including the Great Lakes. This meeting is part of its consultation throughout the Great Lakes region to assess both countries’ progress to accomplish the goals they agreed to in the 2012 Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement.
