Event description

Description

Succession planning has been identified as a significant priority for the public district school boards of Ontario. Directors of Education retire at the height of their careers and boards deserve the best leaders to carry on their important work. We have many outstanding supervisory officers in positions across Ontario and we need you to come forward to offer the leadership that is important to maintaining a strong public education system.

OPSOA/PCODE has designed a one day program for those who might at some point consider “Stepping Up” to the lead position of chief education officer. The intent is to provide practical information and a forum for questions about the role. Experienced directors will provide information in an open and engaging format.

The invitation to attend this program is open to all public supervisory officers. Directors are asked to share details of this session with their superintendents and to encourage at least one participant to attend from each board.

The program will deal with:

  • Governance and relationships with trustees
  • Shifting perspective to the big picture
  • Understanding the political landscape
  • Achieving high performance in a system
  • Media and communication
  • Building and working with a strong system team
  • Preparation for the role and the application process
  • OPSOA/PCODE alignment

Includes : Breakfast, Lunch and Wrap up Reception as well as Refreshment Breaks and Conference Materials

Conference fee $200 (includes hst #RT133169946)
