Stone Walls - Ancestral Imprints; Art Demo and Open Studio with Anne Wright
Join me in my home studio for a demo of my process working with beeswax, pigment, graphite, and fire. I'm just back from a month of an artist residency in the haunting limestone Burren in County Clare on the west coast of Ireland. The theme of ancestors continues in my work this year, with a deep fascination of stone walls... particularly the "famine walls". They rise up into the Burren hills, built as "make work" projects by people trying to survive the famine in exchange for a meagre wage from the British landowners of the time.
This year's art open house will include hourly demonstrations of my art process. There'll also be refreshments, good company, and a display of the past year's art. Available for sale will be a range of art, big and small, available to pick up before I offer them to the two galleries who now represent me (Muse Gallery in Toronto, and Ottawa Art Gallery in Ottawa). As always, no pressure to buy... feedback is much appreciated. Come and hang out. It'll be great to see you and share with you. Please feel free to bring interested friends, and share this invitation widely.
