Event description

Description

When serving people in need as many not-for-profits do, there is often little time to deal with overwhelm. And yet the volume and complexity of what comes through the door can leave people and systems overwhelmed. When not properly addressed, this fight-flight-freeze response impacts not only the very people who have pledged to help but also the people relying on your services.
Key Takeaways
• Identify overwhelm in your employees and volunteers in order to provide more effective support, mitigate effects, and adapt more quickly.
• Notice the hidden warning signs that someone might be headed for burnout.
• Learn a quick, effective tool to practice and share with staff so that they can stop overwhelm as soon as they notice the signs.

About the Facilitator:

Erin Acton has been training people in one way or another throughout her 20+ professional career, whether it has been informing the public as an award-winning news reporter, instructing government employees on social media best practices, or teaching BC Forest employees how to operate their new BC Forest Fire website. She has attended about 100 municipal council and school board meetings, which have given her insight into government operations.
She became interested in overwhelm when she burned herself out while leading the communications for a $50M company. From the ashes of that experience, she started her own business and created powerful tools and strategies so no one else needs to feel trapped on a hamster wheel like she did. Now known by some as the “Authority on Burnout to Balance”, Erin coaches leaders and entrepreneurs who want to get off the hamster wheel so they can be even more confident, productive, and successful.
