Event description
Stories of Our Racialized Identities — an evening of storytelling, in collaboration with Stories of Ours.

About this Event

Announcing our last reading of 2019!

Join us for an evening of stories, brought to you by the Toronto storytelling show "Stories of Ours" and Firefly's class "Exploring our Racialized Identities."

"Exploring Our Racialized Identities" is a writing workshop offered by Jenna Tenn-Yuk here at Firefly for writers who identify as racialized. Recognizing how BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) voices are often forgotten, misrepresented, or underrepresented in the mainstream, this workshop works to bridge this gap by rooting in the real experiences of participants in the room.

"Stories Of Ours" is a grassroots project based in Toronto that aims to deepen community, invite solidarity, and challenge dominant narratives through intentional acts of storytelling and creative arts.

On December 13th, Stories of Ours and Firefly Creative Writing present a special, collaborative evening featuring writers who have participated in Firefly’s “Exploring Our Racialized Identities” workshop. Hosted by Stories of Ours founder Erin Kang and Firefly Coach Jenna Tenn-Yuk, this promises to be an evening of laughter, connection, depth and heart.
