About this event

Join us for a Bi-weekly Fabric Art class. We will be working on a group public art project that will be telling stories through fabric art.

Village Square will be working with local artist, Stephanie Banszky, on a project based around storytelling, connection, identity and intersectional feminism through fabric. Come learn the rich historical role fabric has taken in storytelling, activism, and sharing the voices of marginalized groups. Contribute your story and share your voice through fibre art.

Bi-Weekly Fabric Circles will begin January 2023 - May 2023, Thursday evenings from 6-7:30pm at Village Square. This group will work on a large scale art project around storytelling, connection, itentity and intersectional feminism.

This group will collaborate together these themes to create a public art project that will be showcased in Calgary. Participants will be planning together how the piece will look, working on their individual components and then installing together!

This project will be influenced and guided by the community and we welcome folks of all skill levels and backgrounds to participate. You may come as an absolute beginner or as someone who has worked with fabric art or public art before. We will meet you where you are at in your skill level and journey to ensure that you learn new skills and are able to contribute to the nest of your ability to this project.

Volunteer opportunities are also available and we welcome folks who are skilled in fiber arts or want to gain more community based/facilitation experience.

Final fibre pieces will be showcased through 2023 and 2024.
