A storytelling experience and a puppet craft workshop, learn the legend of the Great Race and put on a puppet show of your own retelling!

About this event

Local artist, picture book author and illustrator Jeni Chen will lead art activities to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year. In this workshop, you will hear the legend of the Great Race and make a puppet that represents your Chinese zodiac animal using paper collage. You will play with colours, lines and shapes to represent the unique characteristics of your Chinese zodiac sign. Finally, everyone can participate in a puppet show to tell your own version of the Great Race story. You can take the puppet home and have the option to make it into a card for Lunar New Year.

Experience what it means to be Together, Stronger by celebrating the Year of the Tiger with 2022 LunarFest. Visit for more details on this year's programming.
