Preschool storytime (for ages 3-5) will now be offered as a series of 6 week cycles. It will be on Friday mornings at 10:15am, September 23rd. You sign-up once per cycle to secure a place for your child at all 6 storytimes in that series. While the listed date and time of this event reflect the final session only, you are actually signing up for all 6 dates in first series:
First Series Cycle:
- September 23rd
- September 30th
- October 7th
- October 14th
- October 21st
- October 28th
Storytime will be on Fridays at 10:15am, and will last about 30 minutes.
Why is it changing?
We will be implementing a program that builds upon the previous session, with one story being repeated in each week of the cycle. While other books/rhymes will vary from session to session, each week will present a new opportunity to explore the repeated book in a new way. This is will allow participants to build upon their previous understanding. Also – by having a fixed number of participants we are able to incorporate more interactive activities without worrying some kids will not be able to participate because we don’t have enough items to go around.
How does a family participate?
Registration will be for a one session cycle – with that child coming every week for 6 weeks. Children will come to storytime with their parent/caregiver. Only the child(ren) need to be registered - not the accompanying adult(s). While the registration process asks for contact information from the adult registering the child(ren), accompanying adults are not counted against the number of spots remaining.
If you have registered, but will be unable to attend one or more sessions (due to illness etc.) please contact the Library to let us know.
What if there are no more spots left?
While there will be a fixed number of spots per cycle, there will be a waitlist available for parents when the program fills up. Waitlist participants will be given registration priority for the next cycle. Our goal will be to make sure that those interested in participating get the opportunity to do so.
What if this doesn't work for me?
Stories to Go will be continuing every other week at Waiting Room Café. It is a drop-in storytime and requires no registration. All families are welcome to attend. Other special storytimes may be happening (Sleepytime Stories, at special events…) and will be promoted separately.
We welcome the feedback of parents/caregivers and will make adjustments as we go on. We want this to be a program that works both for us (that we are able to effectively deliver it) and for the families we serve.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the Library?
There is some parking available in front of the Library. If this is full, there is ample parking available just across the street in John Peake Memorial Park. Both the Library and Park are featured on this map.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
You can call the Library at (403) 272-9025.
Why do I have to register?
Our program room can only hold a limited number of people at a time. Online registration means that all the kids who are registered will be able to participate. A set number of attendees will enable us to incorperate a wider range of activites, and to build upon exeriences in past weeks.
Do I have to bring a printed ticket to storytime?
No, we will not be asking for tickets. We may ask your child's name so that we can mark them off the list of those who have registered.
