Capacity Canada presents: Strategic Succession Planning. The workshop is being lead by Board Governance experts, Andrew Jardine, Executive Assistant to the Principal and Secretary to the Board of Directors at King’s University College at Western University and Paul Wilton, PhD student studying Higher Education Governance at the University of Toronto and who has served on several local and national boards.

Thursday, March 30, 2023 - 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm ET

You will learn the following:

  • Setting strategic priorities for the Board and aligning membership/leadership needs
  • Developing an effective skills matrix
  • Identifying leadership candidates within the Board
  • Developing leaders on the Board
  • Searching for Board candidates with leadership potential
  • Training and onboarding Chairs and Vice-Chairs of Committees and the Board
  • Planning and executing on a succession plan for the Board’s long-term success

We will share information and best practices facilitated through discussions with our experts.

Course fee is $150. Class is limited to 40 people.

Andrew Jardine's Bio

Andrew Jardine is the Corporate Secretary of the Board of Directors of King’s University College in London, Ontario. Andrew has his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Chartered Director (C. Dir) through the Director’s College at McMaster University. He is the co-founder and co-host of the popular governance podcast “The Governance Guys” and serves as the Vice-Chair of Leads Employment Services Board as well as the Chair of the Leads Governance Committee.

Paul Wilton's Bio

Paul is a PhD student studying Higher Education at the University of Toronto. He has a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario. Paul has served on several local and national boards including as President of the Canadian Hemophilia Society, President of Hemophilia Ontario, Vice-Chair of the Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders, Secretary of the Urban League of London, and as a director at King’s University College. Paul co-hosts a podcast, The Governance Guys, where experts in the field join to share lessons to help citizens make positive contributions to their communities through board service.
