Strategy Session #1 - Preparing the Health Science Leaders of the Future
Event Information
Description
Hive #1: Preparing the Health Sciences Leaders of the Future
Date: Thursday April 19, 2018 from 1-4pm
As the healthcare and health science systems evolve rapidly – ranging from shifting professional roles to the potential impact of artificial intelligence to the changing role of patients as partners in care – how do we plan for and prepare our learners for what the world will need?
Our graduates in Medicine, Rehabilitation and Basic Sciences will be working in a world that we can only begin to anticipate. AI, other technologies and new discoveries have the potential to completely transform how we think about health and healthcare. Patients and families have increasingly complex needs, especially with an aging population, and everyone is increasingly health-savvy. Our graduates are being asked to be curators of vast amounts of information and play more complex roles in the health system that require increasing flexibility, professionalism and agility – and traditional pathways are shifting rapidly.
For this discussion, we are inviting participants from across our Faculty and beyond, including learners, faculty, staff, partners, and patient groups to explore what will be needed from the health sciences leaders we graduate and how we can design our teaching and training to best prepare them for the future.
This session is one of six, 3-hour intensive strategy sessions that were developed after consultation with over 300 faculty, staff, students, partners and other key stakeholders within and around the University. Please consider joining us for this session by registering and/or joining us for one of the other “strategy hives” listed below.
