Event description

Description

We invite you to share in an interesting evening of information and discussions on Stress. The flight or fight response, stress response, was first described by Walter Cannon in the 1920s as a theory that animals react to threats with a general discharge of the sympathetic nervous system. Finances, work, relationships, and other situations that pose a real or perceived challenge to a person's well being can cause stress. Stress can affect our bodies, our feelings thoughts and behaviours. Chronic stress, that is stress that continues without relief can contribute to many of our chronic illnesses like heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes.

We will discuss different causes of stress, how stress can affect you, the difference between 'good/positive' stress and ‘bad/negative' stress, and some common facts about how stress can affect people today. We will try and shed some light on the confusion and help you with some tips to deal with your stress effectively.

“People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed ....".Audrey Hepburn

Light snacks and drinks will be provided : We look forward to seeing you there
