Stronger Together: Emerging Opportunities for Shaping Governance
Sat, 12 November 2016, 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM EST
The Social Services Network of Sarnia Lambton proudly presents a Community Governance Leadership Workshop: Stronger Together: Engaging opportunities for shaping governance in the charitable and not-for-profit sector.
Join us as we collectively learn how we can strengthen our Board governance practices and organizational outcomes. In an era of accountability and transparency, we strive to meet the various demands and needs of our stakeholders. We will explore and deepen our understanding of various approaches so that we can become responsible and responsive in an increasingly regulatory environment.
Event Details Include:
8:00am - 9:00am: Registration & Continental Breakfast
9:00am: Plenary Session - How Imperfect Board Members Add Value by Mary Lynn McPherson, STRIVE!, who refers to herself as an imperfect board member for over 29 years!
Mary Lynn is an advocate for healthy organizations... and she doesn't mean low sick days. She means the kinds of organizations that are purpose-focused - not leader focused; organizations are made up individuals who diligently contribute - not out of a sense of duty but rather, with conviction for the powerful impact they can have by working together.
10:45am: Panel Discussion - Emerging Trends in Leadership
Panel topics will vary and include, but not limited to, changing Board models and having generative discussions, governance and anti-oppression, representation as a First Nations Board member, etc.
Thank you to our lead sponsor, The WorkPlace Group.
