FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself, maybe a friend or two.
Do I need to know before hand what I want to paint?
A little thought before hand is always a great idea but if you're struggling to find that masterpiece you're searching for we have plenty of resource material for your inspiration. Our resident artist is also a trained Arts Therapist and can help guide you through the creative process.
Will I get paint on my clothes?
Although we do provide you with full cover painting smocks which are made of thick resistant material in some extreme instances paint can get through. We recommend resisting the urge to paint on your friends back.
What shoes should I wear?
We recommend wearing what you're most comfortable in. Whether that is sneakers, flip-flops, heals or gum boots. Keep in mind, if you're clumsy, you may drop paint on your shoes.
What type of paint do you use?
We use a water based acrylic paint that is easy to use and easy to clean up. Acrylic paints are great for beginners and intermediates as it is a very forgiving paint to use.
I'm not an artist, can I still join?
Absolutely you are an artist! We are strong believers that everyone is an artist and everyone expresses their creativity in different mediums throughout their lives. Don't be afraid to try new experiences in life, you will surprise more than just yourself in the process. We are here to support you and our resident artist is also a trained Arts Therapist who can help guide you through the creative process. We've got you.
Do you offer refunds for cancellations?
We understand that life happens often unexpectedly. If you have to cancel, please notify us prior to the event date and we will be happy to extend your tickets to attend the next Studio Sessions event night. Refunds will only be issued in the unlikely event that Mixed Media Events & Studio Sessions has to cancel the event.
My friend wants to join us last minute, can they purchase a ticket at the door?
If another friend wishes to join after the purchase period has ended, please contact Mixed Media Events directly by telephone prior to the event date and the ticket will be available for your friend at the door. Payment will be accepted by Cash or Credit Card ONLY.
Why do I have to be 19+ to paint?
While painting is encouraged for all ages the consumption of alcohol is not. As our Studio Sessions events serve alcohol we must restrict the age of our guests. We will be offering underage classes, day camps and events soon so please check the upcoming events page on our website for more information. www.mixedmediaevents.com
I'm taking public transit, what is the closest Skytrain stop?
Our events are conveniently held in the Beaumont Studios located at 316 west 5th avenue. Depending on where you're coming from you can either get off at the Olympic Village station or Cambie & Broadway station, both of these locations are serviced by numerous bus routes as well and we are located only a few blocks walking distance from each.
