What happens if the Executive Director or other key people suddenly leave your organization? Are you ready? Regardless of their size, non-profits and charities need to manage succession of key personnel. A plan and a process to meet staffing requirements are critical to your organization’s stability and sustainability.

With careful planning and preparation, organizations can manage the changes that result from a generational transfer of leadership as well as ongoing changes that occur regularly when key employees leave an organization.

Workshop Overview

United Way is pleased to partner with People First HR Services for a workshop that will contribute to strengthening your understanding of the fundamental principles of succession management. Participants in Succession Management will acquire:

  • An understanding of the components of succession management,
  • Increased ability to use succession management to support the long term viability and continued operation of the organization,
  • The tools needed to create succession plans, and
  • Increased knowledge of how to integrate elements of succession management into the organization’s overall talent management practices.

Facilitator

 

Shannon Leppky - Vice President, HR Consulting at People First HR Services

Shannon is an experienced human resource and business executive having had a broad portfolio that included human resources, knowledge management, strategy and product. She has a proven track record of human resource strategy development and implementation inside a large Crown Corporation with specific expertise in the area of organizational change management and culture. Previous to this, Shannon had a successful consulting career working with educational leaders in high schools and school divisions throughout the Province. She facilitated strategic planning sessions, provided a critical friend service and developed and delivered leadership development offerings.
