Event description

Description

TTL Kids! is committed to creating safe, community-minded spaces where Young Makers can develop their ideas, explore methods, and develop confidence as Makers! Each of the following Summer Camps will aim to do just that while having loads of fun!

Maker Sampler Camp

July 4 - 7 & August 8 - 11

30 hours devoted to exploring Maker Culture! What could be better? During this Summer Camp program, Young Makers will explore design principles in the context of 3D modeling, laser cutting, electronics, and woodworking.

The week will consist of multiple workshops, including a visit from Little Robot Friends, that will work to develop Young Makers’ skills in tool use, design, circuitry, soldering, 3D modeling, and programming. By week’s end, Young Makers will have done it all from building mini boom boxes to designing a solar powered usb power bank (perfect to take camping!).

Suitable for Young Makers age 8+

Time: 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Cost: $395

Where: East-end location (1803 Danforth Ave.

Game Makers

July 10 - 14 & August 14 - 18

Some kids like video games. Some kids like boardgames. TTL Kids! loves both and we think our Young Makers will love designing and making their own of each.

Young Makers will be introduced to game design by developing their own stories and exploring them in both board and video form. In the mornings, Young Makers will explore coding, design, and digital storytelling using Scratch to develop their very own unique video game. In the afternoon, they will design and create their very own board game using tools such as the laser cutter (perfect for creating a unique game board) and the 3D printer (perfect for designing unique dice or game pieces).

Suitable for Young Makers age 8+

Time: 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Cost: $425

Where: East-end location (1803 Danforth Ave.)

Danger Camp

July 17 - 21

Let your Young Maker live a little dangerously - under the close supervision of responsible instructors, of course! After providing programming to Young Makers for over 3 years, TTL Kids! has come to realize that kids are interested in things that are dangerous. We say, “fair enough.”

While Young Makers will be making things like CO2 cars, spud guns, and liquid nitrogen ice cream, they’ll also be learning some pretty cool science. And having a very fun time all the while.

Suitable for Young Makers age 10+

Time: 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Cost: $425

Where: East-end location (1803 Danforth Ave.)

Pinball Machine - Wired

July 24 - 28 & August 21 - 25

Not only will Young Makers design and build their own tabletop pinball machine, they will program it too!
During this 5-day Summer Camp, Young Makers will spend the mornings learning the basics of wiring, circuitry, and programming. Their afternoons will be spent designing, laser cutting, woodworking, and painting the perfect pinmachine. The end result, a very cool tabletop pinball machine that electronically keeps score! All made by your Young Maker!

Suitable for Young Makers age 8+

Time: 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Cost: $425

Where: East-end location (1803 Danforth Ave.)

Bots! Bots! Robots!

July 31 - August 4

Building robots is fun, easy, and can be done by nearly anyone. This camp will work to guide Young Makers through four very cool projects, introducing new knowledge and skills along the way!

During the first half, Young Makers will build three simple bots which will familiarize them with the fundamentals of robot-building. Over the second half of the camp, Young Makers will build an advanced telepresence* robot using a microcontroller and sensors (once they’ve programmed their Arduino, of course!). What?!

* Young Makers will need access to a smartphone or iPod with video capabilities on the final day.

Suitable for Young Makers age 9+

Time: 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Cost: $450

Where: East-end location (1803 Danforth Ave.)
