This workshop will focus on summer pruning of fruit trees, which can continue into September. We will cover the key concepts of summer pruning and do demonstration pruning on selected trees at the Compost Ed Centre.
As an extra bonus, there will be a question and pruner-sharpening period from 3-4pm for those of you who are able to stay a bit longer!
Instructor Bio: As a student of horticulture, pruning was always a hugely fascinating subject forGordon. Fruit tree pruning scared (or should that be 'scarred'?) him a lot, so much so that he rarely even made the first cut! It became a mission to find out more about it, a lot more. Through lots of trial and error (quite a few errors actually) and training the hand and eye, he has managed to learn the many facets of this particular pruning style.
He was trained in the craft of horticulture at both the Threave School of Gardening (two years) and Pershore College of Horticuture (three years) and along with running his own pruning business and a small specialty nursery (Alba Plants), he now instructs with Pacific Horticulture College's Landscape Horticulture Technician Program.
