Sunday Evening Pottery For Beginners
Event Information
About this Event
First 5 minutes of class will be introduction, then we will engage in a 15 minute brainstorming session on what you will create during your session. It's helpful to ponder ideas before class so that you have more time to work while you are there.
To create your pieces we will be using handmade techniques such as the coil and slab method, which will be demonstrated by Alia. We will then break off into groups where students will be rotating between working on the wheel and creating your piece with handmade techniques.
In the last 10 minutes , students will then clean up their stations and choose a glaze for their finished piece.
Your final works will be left at the studio and will be ready for pick up within 3-4 weeks.
(Please keep in mind that the process of creating with clay takes weeks because you must wait for the clay to dry out, then fire the piece in the kiln, glaze the piece and finally fire once more.)
