Superbutch is pleased to present a clothing exchange for masculine-of-centre women, trans* masculine people, Two-Spirit people, bois, and butches. People of all and no genders welcome! Open to all ages!
5pm to 7pm, clothing swap
8pm to 10pm, performance by Dinah Thorpe, open catwalk, and dance party
Join us on March 25, from 5pm until 10pm for this low-cost way to get new-to-you clothes--and to give away your old-to-you, gently used clothes! Come to look for clothes, have a drink, stay for the performance, and maybe even show off your swap clothes on the runway or the dance floor! The clothing swap will be from 5pm until 7pm, then you can have a drink or take a break while we set up for the second half. Your ticket covers both parts of the evening.
If you want to come to the swap or the dance party or both, but don’t have clothing to donate, you can get your ticket here or at Glad Day for $10 + $1 surcharge. (Note: if ticket prices are an obstacle for you, please email us at email@example.com and we’ll work something out.)
If you have clothing to donate, your ticket price is $5 at the door. For details on donating clothing, see the Facebook event.
The proceeds from the bar go back to the 519. After we cover costs, proceeds from tickets will go to Salaam Canada: Queer Muslim Community.
The Superbutch SWAP is open to everyone, across the gender spectrum. The focus is on masculine-of-centre, exciting-to-find clothing items. Though we cannot control what ends up in the mix, we hope to have a range of sizes available, from XS to plus-size and pregnancy clothing.
We suggest arriving when the swap starts to have the best chance to find your new-to-you clothes/accessories. Each participant can expect to bring home 3-6 items.
Please help us spread the word re: this much-needed swap for masculine-of-centre women, Two-Spirit women, trans* masculine people, bois, and butches! We aim to create a safe space for you to find fashion gems. Invite your friends! The more people, the more gems to dig among, and the more we can support Salaam and the 519.
• The event space is wheelchair accessible
• Prewash your clothes and bring your clothes (and yourself) as scent free as possible
• Gender-neutral washrooms and individual change areas will be available.
Questions or want to volunteer for the event? Volunteers are needed to transport bags of clothes on March 25th from drop offs to the 519, to help put up change rooms and set up the room, sort clothes, work the door, and watch over tables during the swap. In other words, we need you!
