Description

Supporting Kids in Camp is offering a variety of FREE Inclusion trainings for summer camp staff.

Please register individually for each training, space is limited so please cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend.


Tuesday June 11th - Personal Care and Lifts, Transfers and Sensory

Location: 151 Victoria Road North, Guelph

Noon - 1pm Session - Personal Care

Personal Care training to learn about changing individuals, bathroom routines, and feeding supports. This session has a question answer period at the end so bring your individual questions along.

1pm - 4pm Session - Lifts,Transfers and Sensory

Lifts and Transfers - Presented by a Physiotherapist with Kids Ability this session will go through the common lifts and transfers you may use with individuals with varying physical needs.

Sensory Supports - Presented by an Occupational Therapist with Kids Ability this session will go through what do some of our sensory needs look like, how can we ensure we meet the children's needs and some great resources.


Monday June 17th - Autism Awareness Training including:

Location: 485 Silvercreek Parkway North Unit 1, Guelph

10am-12noon Session - Using Visuals in Your Camp Program Make and Take.

What are visuals, how can they help everyone be successful, followed by a time to make some of your own visuals to take back to camp with you.

1:00pm-3:00pm Session - Autism and Anxiety

What can we do to help our campers with varying needs remain calm and set them up for a successful week.


Tuesday June 18th - Challenging Behaviours

Location: 151 Victoria Road North, Guelph

9:00am-11am Session - Challenging Behaviours

1:00pm-3:00pm Session - Children's Mental Health and Emotional Support

Learn more about campers who may be experiencing mental health challenges, and how we can modify programming and our actions to help them succeed. This session is presented by a Children's Mental Health Clinician from CMHA WW.


Thursday June 20th - Inclusion Training

Location TBD

9:30am-11:30am Session - Sign Language

Presented by a WeeHands Instructor. An introduction to sign language in camps to communication with campers and include in play and song.

1:00pm-3:00pm Session - Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

What does this diagnosis mean for your campers, how we can use common techniques to help all campers find success.
