Event description

Join us for an exciting day of presentations and workshops on Supporting Student Success.

Our morning keynote presentation will be:

Self-regulation is the ability to monitor and control our own behaviour, emotions, or thoughts, altering them in accordance with the demands of the situation. It includes the ability to inhibit first responses, to resist interference from irrelevant stimulation, and to persist on relevant tasks even when we don't enjoy them. Children with mental health or developmental difficulties all struggle with regulating their emotions and behaviours. Self-regulation is developmental in nature, just like learning to walk, talk and read. Learn strategies to help yourself, children or your students to develop self-regulation skills.

Speaker: Dr. Anita Ramani is passionate about working with children and their families to help them reach their potential. She has been a registered clinical psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario since 2007 and has been a Psychologist in India since 2000. She has been a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst - Doctoral since 2012. As a Psychologist and Associate with Quinte Assessment and Treatment Group, Anita's work involves supervising the Autism and Behaviour Program for children and families; providing diagnostic assessment, and psycho-educational assessment for children and adolescents; and providing consultation and intervention for children and adolescents who are experiencing learning difficulties, social and emotional difficulties, anxiety, depression, anger and problem-solving. Anita utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Modification, Applied Behavioural Analysis and other evidence-based treatments to help children and adolescents.

After this presentation we will break for lunch. Then in the afternoon you will have your chance to attend two of four break-out workshops (please note - you will NOT be able to change your breakout sessions onsite at the conference. If you are registering for more than 1 person (yourself) it will be assumed that you and your guest will attend the same breakouts. Therefore, it is encouaged that each person register themselves for the conference and pick their own breakouts - thanks for understanding).
