Event description

Description

This series introduces the fundamentals of computer music production for those who are interested in composing, recording, and arranging their own music.

The workshops are aimed to teach a wide range of skills and techniques for navigating a computer music environment using the progam Ableton Live, and to enable the participants to develop confidence in navigating the complexities of today's music software programs. Participants will have an opportunity to learn how to create their own music throughout the workshop, from the very first steps to a basic arrangement. Topics include: basic concepts about digital sound, audio editing and working with loops, using MIDI to play, record, and refine musical ideas, introduction to synthesis and sampling, using effects and automation to transform sounds, and more.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own headphones.

This program is a welcoming space for all including women, trans women, non-binary people and allies.

Registration begins on August 30, at 12:30pm.
