Event description

Description

Manchester Action on Street Health (MASH), is a charity that provide "a range of confidential and non-judgemental services to women working in the sex industry in Greater Manchester". In 2016-2017, MASH supported 713 women, with most of these women being street and sauna workers.

The work undertaken by MASH is invaluable as sex workers are a classically hard to reach and vulnerable group in society. They provide links between different Manchester services to allow them to work with these women, engage them in services across the city and change their attitudes.

This event is open to all and is free to attend.

Guest speaker:

Helen Clayton - Fundraising & Marketing Co-ordinator, Manchester Action on Street Health.

Helen will be discussing the history of MASH, the services MASH provides and the impact they have in the community.

She will use case studies to illustrate

  • Who the women are that MASH support
  • Why these women need supporting
  • The needs these women have
  • The impact attitudes of healthcare professionals have on these women accessing healthcare
