Survive Outside
Event Information
About this Event
There's no time like the present to brush up on your outdoor safety knowledge. No one heads out for an adventure thinking something will go wrong but if it does, your investment in developing safety skills can make all the difference for the outcome should it happen.
Hikes Near Vancouver is proud to partner with the Surrey Search and Rescue team for an evening session of the BC AdventureSmart “Survive Outside – A Guide to Outdoor Safety” program.
Taught by a highly-experienced SAR team member, this program is targeted at anyone interested in learning introductory outdoor survival practices.
You will learn about the "Three Ts" (Trip Planning, Training and Taking the Essentials), other outdoor travel tips, as well as how Search and Rescue operates. The seasoned, knowledgeable instructor helps you tie everything together with scenarios and analyses of real-life SAR experiences.
RSVP for your ticket as space is limited.
BONUS: All attendees will receive a free Fox 40 whistle and emergency blanket - two of the The Essentials for outdoor safety!
While this event is free to attend, donations to Surrey SAR are strongly encouraged. Cash or credit will be accepted at the door.
