Tim Faveri, Maple Leaf Foods' Vice President, Sustainability & Shared Value, will spotlight Maple Leaf's experience with integrating sustainability across the business, and specifically, their priority area of animal welfare. In 2007, Maple Leaf was the first major company in Canada to commit to converting sows (pregnant pigs) from gestation crates to open housing. Today, there is even more pressure from a variety of stakeholders for the pork industry to transition sow stalls to open housing. Maple Leaf Foods continues to transition their barns to open housing and is being rewarded with a positive impact on their business, which includes happier pigs, and people!
The Coca Cola bottling facility located in Brampton, Ontario shifts the spotlight to feature natural resource management and specifically how Coca Cola is responding globally to water
challenges. Learn how they are valuing natural capital in their business.
Brad Wiseman, CFO of EarthFresh Foods will put the spotlight on a small company's experience with engaging their team to integrate sustainability into the business. He'll talk about the importance of planning, communication and celebration.
Club Coffee in Rexdale, Ontario will put the spotlight on sustainable innovation! Club's new PURPOD100™ is the world's first certified 100% compostable single serve pod for coffee, tea and other hot beverages. Well-known brands in Canada and the US are switching to PURPOD100™ to meet consumer demand for environmentally responsible single serve convenience and quality - with other innovations in the works.
