Hayley is a fourth-year UBC student finishing up her science degree in Global Resource Systems. Hayley is passionate about understanding health disparities and exploring ways to promote health outcomes in a given population. She also swam competitively for 12 years, which ultimately inspired her to initiate this fundraiser. Through this initiative, Hayley hopes to raise money to promote the health of those living with HIV; moreover, she aspires to increase awareness and fight against the prejudice that surrounds this disease.
The money Hayley raises from Swimming 10 KM will go towards the Health Promotion Department at the Positive Living Society of British Columbia. The Health Promotion Department has a wide variety of programs and services designed to support and empower persons living with HIV to live healthy lives. From Community Education Forums and the Treatment Information and Outreach Program to the suite of Health and Wellness Programs like Massage Therapy, Yoga, and Smoking Cessation, there is a little something for everyone that comes through the doors of Positive Living BC.
