Event description

Description

This session is open to University of Alberta Engineering Students & Alumni ONLY.

Target Audience: All Mining Engineering Students, 2018 Graduates, & Alumni.

At Syncrude, we produce more than oil. We produce possibilities, opportunities and futures. There's no better time than now to take advantage of our hands-on, leading-edge student employment program - one of the largest in Canada and, according to our students, one of the most rewarding.

Student Opportunities

Students enjoy a wide range of benefits while working with Syncrude. This includes:

  • Opportunities to meet and form friendships with students from across Canada
  • Strong mentorship in an exciting working environment
  • Competitive salary
  • Annual days off (ADOs) which is prorated from your first day of work to your end date. You will have 16 ADOs per year, 8 of which are designated and 8 are flexible.
  • Free accommodation (taxable benefits)
  • Free transportation from the educational institution you are attending
  • Access to a wide variety of recreational activities including hiking, skiing, fishing, kayaking, camping, mountain biking, tennis, soccer, football and hockey
  • Ability to contribute to the community and take a leading role in volunteer organizations
  • ...and the opportunity to make a difference!

Permanent Opportunities

Each year Syncrude also hires many new graduates from a variety of disciplines attending both Universities and Technical Institutes. Every new hire that is a recent graduate enters into the Initial Professional Development Program (IPDP).

What is it?

A program to manage the development and salaries of University, College or Technical Institute graduates consistently across Syncrude.

Duration

A four year program, following graduation, to reach the Fully Qualified Level applicable to the graduate, assuming no previous related experience and good performance.
