Event description

Description

This is a hands-on interactive course to learn about and practice how to conduct systematic reviews. This course will take you through the critical steps needed to perform a rigorous systematic review using methods developed by the Cochrane Collaboration and the GRADE Working Group. Learn from experts about searching for studies, extracting data and analysing results, assessing evidence, and interpreting results; and then apply to examples. We will focus on systematic reviews of interventions (including randomised and non-randomised studies) but also discuss the use of the methods for other reviews, such as diagnostic test accuracy or prognostic reviews.

This workshop is sponsored by SCPOR and the University of Saskatchewan and is free for participants. If you register and then find you cannot attend, please let us know (scpor_info@usask.ca) so someone else can take your place.

Lunch is provided.

Facilitator Bio: Dr Nancy Santesso is Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact at McMaster University and a Registered Dietitian. She is the Deputy Director of Cochrane Canada, a member of the Governing Board of the Cochrane Collaboration, editor of the Cochrane Consumers and Communication Review Group and member of the GRADE Working Group. She teaches the systematic review course at McMaster University and many workshops throughout the year to faculty, students, and people interested in performing systematic reviews, in particular for guideline development.
