Take Back Friday on November 26th with live music and poetry in the DECIEM Seven Dials store. No purchase necessary.

About this event

On Friday November 26th DECIEM will host upcoming London musicians and poets in partnership with with BREAK COMMs to amplify emerging talent and offer visitors the opportunity to slooow down and connect with others. No purchase necessary.

Black Friday is a time associated with limited flash sales, known for driving impulse behaviors. For the last couple of years DECIEM has said bye-bye to Black Friday. To bring true value, we needed to allow the time for research, reflection, and consideration. On Take Back Friday (formerly known as Black Friday), we've removed the products from our shelves opting instead to leave space for human experiences to promote slowing down. We hope to see you there!

Please bring a friend :-)

Lineup in collaboration with BREAK COMMS

  • Big Scoop - Scoop, also known as Big Scoop is a wordsmith hailing from south London. He made his name in the rap scene where he gained notoriety for his punchlines and clever wordplay. He moved over to the spoken word scene 2 years ago.
  • Call Me Unique - Call Me Unique infuses the sounds of jazz, soul, future-beats, and scat-singing. Influenced by the sounds of Lauryn Hill, Ed Sheeran, Ella Fitzgerald & Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes. Renowned for her love of scatting and eclectic performance approach, her vibe truly is unique. She has played Glastonbury, Latitude, Secret Garden Party, Mostly Jazz Fest, and Oxjam.
  • Ed Geater - Ed has been hailed as 'One of the West Midlands' most exciting talents' - BBC Introducing. Growing up on a staple musical diet of alternative rock, folk and electronica, equally matching his love of classical music, Ed switched his childhood instrument from violin to guitar and pursued his love of song-writing, whilst harnessing his metronomic skills as a beatboxer. Influenced by his obsession with ambient electronic artists such as Bonobo, Boards of Canada and Four Tet – Ed set out to create the same vivid and textural musical landscapes, but only using his organic vocal beats, acoustic guitar and loop station. The resulting sound is an electronic infused, pop-laden and folk inspired tapestry, with clear nods to revered songwriters such as Jeff Buckley and Ben Howard.
  • Blessing - Blessing previously scooped up second place in Hackney Empire’s ‘Alter Ego 2020’ a talent contest to find the next generation of musicians and performers. She has since been writing and performing on the spoken word scene.
  • SOLAARISS - South London multi-instrumentalist merges orchestral and future beat influences and has composed for the BBC Concert Orchestra. With a rich harmonic flair, Solaariss' sound encompasses his love for Jazz, Afrobeat, Indie, Gospel and Hip hop. The 22 year-old producer & saxophonist first started making beats at a youth club in his estate and has since performed at Lovebox and Birmingham Symphony Hall.
  • POETTA DEE - Poetta Dee has music running through her veins with elder siblings including global phenomenon and Euphoria soundtrack scorer Labrinth, UK prime-time drummer Mcknasty, and Ed Sheeran-collaborating SheZar. A maverick of the spoken word scene, this will be her first performance after a hiatus to have a baby boy. She has previously toured the globe, winning poetry slams as far afield as Chicago. Now she ventures back into lyricism, rhyme and prose, to find herself, maintain her inner child, and to address and combat the change we all go through whilst we grow.

Kind Notice: Face coverings are mandatory. In-store capacity to be limited throughout the event to follow local social distancing guidelines.
