Description

Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis TAKE BACK THE NIGHT.

Guelph’s 32nd Annual Take Back The Night will take place on Thursday, September 26th from 6pm-10pm. The march and rally will take place from 6-8pm, and the Femme Fest will take place from 8-10pm. Feel free to join for the entire event or join in at any point you feel comfortable.

Take Back the Night is an annual March and Rally that provides a space for survivors to share their stories and to come together in unity against sexual and gender-based violence. This event is an opportunity for survivors, supporters, and community members to come together in solidarity to support and empower survivors and to increase awareness of gender-based violence, with the goal of eliminating gender-based violence and creating a safer community for all.

This year’s Take Back the Night event will feature a rally and a march beginning at 6pm and ending at 8pm at Marianne’s Park, 176 Gordon Street, Guelph, N1G 1X1. We will be starting at Marianne's Park, passing by Church of our Lady, St. George's Square and many downtown businesses. Feel free to join for the entire march or join in at any point you feel comfortable. There will be music, t-shirt making, free swag, among other activities.

After the event, there will be a Femme Fest concert. While sexual violence can impact persons of all genders, sexual violence affects persons who identify as women in much higher rates. For this reason, this concert will be a celebration and empowerment of those who are femme-identified, femme-loving, or looking to celebrate femme qualities. This is a celebration that everyone in the community is welcome to attend and support. The concert will be taking place at Red Papaya in Guelph from 8pm-10pm. Performers will include musicians, poets, singers, and spoken word artists.

All are welcome to attend, march, and come together in solidarity and seek an end to sexual violence. We look forward to seeing you there!
