Description
"I begin with the proposition that eating is an agricultural act. Eating ends the annual drama of the food economy that begins with planting and birth." - Wendell Barry (https://www.ecoliteracy.org/article/wendell-berry-pleasures-eating)
What does it mean to consider enjoying beer as an agricultural product, as an agricultural act? How do we relate to the growers, the maltsters, the brewers, and to each other when we grab our favourite beverage?
From "Plough to Pint," this presentation by Liam Boshell of Against The Grain maltery in Sarnia and Aaron Lawrence, head brewer at London Brewing, will look at how locally-grown grains are finding their way into locally-crafted beer. This dynamic presentation takes you from the farms, to the transformation of grain to malt, to how the resulting malts become beer.
This workshop will be followed by a tasting of beers made with local grains and conversations with Liam and Aaron.
