Join us for an evening of food, wine and conversation as we ponder the complex topic of truth and how it is being used or misused by the media, politicians and the average joe. While you await our evening together, here is the question we pose to you:
"Does our insatiable appetite for facts and information drive us to lose sight of what's true? Does the truth even exist or matter?"
To help us examine this complex topic, we have two esteemed speakers lined up for the evening:
Robert Steiner, Director, Fellowships In Global Journalism Professor, Global Practice, Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto
Having led the launch of the Munk School Fellowships in Global Journalism, at the University of Toronto, Robert brings his experience as a former Wall Street Journal foreign correspondent and lead speech writer to the Hon. Paul Martin and the Hon. Jean Chretien. This unique perspective allows him to go deep, ask probing and compelling questions and examine the future of our society through the lens of political leadership. Through this critical view, Robert is able to adeptly assess the impact that both the truth; and, the lies have on our society
Randy VanDerStarren, Photographer, Creator - Take Your Seat and President at Oh! Brand Strategy
A passionate and creative leader, Randy brings decades of experience as a creative strategist and change agent. Beginning his career in the advertising industry, Randy held increasingly senior roles in brand strategy within multinational award winning agencies. This wasn't enough, however as his inner artist was calling.
Leaving behind his suit and tie, Randy now travels the world shooting iconic locations that have an environmental urgency to them. Using an iconic lone director's chair, Randy's photographs inspire you to stop talking and start living the life you always intended. The a director's chair acts as a symbol for you to take charge of your own life, Randy calls this project"Take Your Seat". His unique perspectives examines the truth of our planet through the eye of an artist and a pragmatist. Learn more at www.takeyourseatonline.com
