Event description

Description

In 2008 Altamira Consulting excavated three abandoned homesteads in the area south of Lake Wabamun. From mundane, everyday items like metal cans, beverage bottles and nails to the unexpected- doll heads, floorboards and an intact door - these sites provided an interesting look at life on three early 20th century homesteads. Our archaeological findings were further enhanced by archival research, through which we were able to determine the names and number of people living at these homesteads, and a personal interview with one landowner who played at two of the homesteads as a small child.
