Event description

Description

In the second workshop of The Dying to Live Series, Jilly will lead you through personal reflection, group discussion and provide practical Do's and Don't's of discussing the challenging topics of death and dying with children...or anyone.

You will leave with:

  • a deeper understanding of your own formative experiences and ideas of death
  • confidence to have open, factual, age-appropriate conversations with children about death and dying
  • easy tools and examples to reference when talking about death and dying with kids
  • practical guidelines for best practices of sharing difficult information with kids

Bring your curiosity and your favourite notebook and pen! Handouts will be provided. Tissues will also be provided in case some big emotions escape from our eyes and noses!

Refreshments: Purchase a beverage at the cafe upstairs before we begin, or bring your water bottle or other beverage of choice. Light healthy snacks will be provided.

Location: Community Meeting Room B upstairs at Quality Foods-View Royal. Lots of free above and underground parking, and easy access via the Galloping Goose and several bus routes.

The Dying to Live Series is a collection of 2-hour facilitated workshops to explore death as a motivator of meaningful living, with an aim to increase and improve death literacy. The series also includes:

  • Visioning a Life of Few Regrets (September 14, 10 a.m.-noon)
  • Love Notes from Beyond (October 5, 10 a.m.-noon)
  • Gifting Your Legacy (November 23, 10 a.m.-noon)
  • Your Last Hurrah! (December 7, 10 a.m.-noon)
