Tankers, Climate, and Economy: A Community Forum
Event Information
Description
In January, the BC government approved the Kinder Morgan pipeline and tanker expansion project. The project is on the minds of many British Columbians as they consider the risks to our coast. If completed, the project will result in a sevenfold increase in heavy oil tanker traffic in the Burrard Inlet threatening our local environment, economy, and First Nation communities.
On Monday March 20th, join MLAs George Heyman, David Eby, and Melanie Mark to hear from an expert panel on First Nations, municipality, and economic concerns, as well as legal and community action being taken.
Following the panel there will be town hall discussion where you can share your thoughts and solutions with your MLA.
PANELIST:
Andrea Reimer, Vancouver City Councillor
Charlene Aleck, Tsleil-Waututh Nation Councillor and a spokesperson for the Sacred Trust Initiative
Dr. Kathryn Harrison, UBC Political Science Professor
SCHEDULE:
6:30 – 7pm: Doors open
7pm – 7:45pm: Expert panel and questions
7:45 – 8:30pm: Town hall discussion with your MLAs
