About the Award

The TaxFighter Award is given out by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) to recognize Canadians who have made an outstanding contribution to the cause of taxpayer emancipation. This award has been given to lawmakers, media personalities, academics and average citizens who have stood out and stood up in fighting for limited and accountable government.

About the Recipient

Michael Binnion is the President and founding shareholder of Questerre Energy, a public oil and gas production company operating in Québec. Previously, he has served as President of CanArgo Energy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Flowing Energy Corp., Chairman of the Board of Sylogist Ltd., founder and Director of Magnus Energy, Inc., and Chairman of High Arctic Energy Services Inc. He also was Executive Director of Crossfield House Inc., a private merchant banking firm.

Binnion also founded the Québec Energy Association to support companies, investors, and subcontractors interested in developing natural gas and renewable energy projects in Québec.

Michael is a key figure in Canada’s free-market movement. He previously served as a director and Chair of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. He has also served as chair of the Manning Foundation and is currently the Chair of the Board of Canada Strong and Free Network.

In 2016, Binnion founded Modern Miracle Network, a multi-partisan organization with the mission to encourage Canadians to have reasoned conversations about energy issues. Modern Miracle Network fosters the work of hundreds of free-market activists each year.

About the Event

Please join us for an after-work reception on Thursday June 23rd in Calgary as the CTF bestows its TaxFighter Award to Mr. Binnion, and recognize his contributions to the cause of limited and accountable government.

About the Tickets

General tickets are available to CTF supporters and the general public. If you are a member of the CTF's Taxpayers Caucus, a code is available for complimentary admission for you and one guest. If you do not have the code, please e-mail mharvie@taxpayer.com.
