ANNUAL DINNER – OCTOBER 5, 2019

We will be holding the annual dinner at the same location as last year, the Hothouse, 35 Church Street, Toronto (https://www.hothouserestaurant.com/) on Saturday October 5th.  This is an informal venue and we will have our own area, the Mezzanine - a large, open, and private section at the back of the restaurant - both for the cocktails and for the meal. The location has parking nearby and is close to public transit. The broad menu choices are very similar to last year and the price will remain the same at $70 for a three course meal including soft drinks, tea, coffee, taxes and gratuity.  Wine and pre-dinner drinks will not be included but will be available for purchase separately. Please keep the date and make an effort to attend: this is the main gathering in the year and a chance to meet old friends and make new ones. The details are as follows.       

F  We strongly encourage attendees to use Eventbrite to purchase tickets as it makes the organization of the event easier and more efficient. 

F  Should you wish to pay by cheque, please make it out to Bruce Buttimore and mail it to him at 25 The Esplanade, Suite 1212, Toronto  ON  M5E 1W5. 

F  Please make an effort to book early as it helps with the organization of the dinner to know the anticipated numbers.

Time

6:30 – Cocktails.  Dinner 8:00. 

Location  The Hothouse, 35 Church Street, Toronto (https://www.hothouserestaurant.com/) in the Mezzanine - a large, open, and private section at the back of the restaurant - both for the cocktails and for the meal. Underground paid parking is available off Church Street between King and Front at INDIGO. There is also a Green P Parking Lot at Church & Esplanade.

Menu  There will be a choice from several main courses (see below) ordered on the night together with salad, desert and tea or coffee.  Soft drinks are included. There will be an additional charge payable by individuals for non-alcoholic beverages such as juices and espresso based coffees. Wine and other drinks are not included and can be purchased separately and charged to individual tabs for settlement with the restaurant at the end of the evening.If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know. 

Format  The cocktail period beforehand will be a cash bar for 1½ hr to allow for circulation of people for mixing, mingling, and networking. Seating will be an individual choice.  There will be no head table or formal speaker.  It is hoped that people will circulate to other tables between courses in order to meet more of those attending.

Dress   Respectably casual.

 Price  $70.00 per person including coffee, tea and soft drinks as well as taxes and gratuity.

Grape tomatoes, celeriac, radish, baby lettuce, onion sprouts, and house dressing

Caesar Salad

Romaine, house-made garlic croutons, bacon bits and

Chef Curt’s roasted garlic Caesar dressing

Chef Curt’s Daily Soup Creation

 

MAIN

New York Striploin

8oz AAA aged New York steak with a porcini mushroom demi and

served with a baked russet potato and seasonal vegetables

or

Chicken Supreme

Baked chicken breast, port, shallot and cranberry compote, mascarpone

mashed Yukon gold potatoes and seasonal vegetables

or

Heritage Salmon

Centre cut salmon filet stuffed with spinach, sundried tomatoes

and braised fennel wrapped in prosciutto and finished with a black truffle butter, served over our signature wild rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables

or

Pasta Cavolfiore (v)

Casareccia pasta tossed in a parmesan and fontina cheese cream sauce

with a roasted cauliflower, garlic and sweet green pea medley

Chocolate Pot de crème

or

Lemon Cream Cake
