As we age it can be difficult to have conversations on topics that affect our health, safety and well-being. Join the new "Tea & Talk for Seniors" series that will provide you the opportunity to start the Conversation!
In Session 5 join Shauna MacEachern, Seniors at Risk Coodinator and Sheri McKeen from the Community Care Access Center for Tea & Talk about:
It's Not Right: Neighbours Friends and Families talk about Elder Abuse
Everyone has the right to be safe and free from abuse or neglect. No one should experience abuse. “It’s not right!”
As neighbours, friends and family members, you can help.
You don’t have to “fix” the problem. Caring about the people around you and paying attention when there are signs of trouble are important steps. Small actions can make a big difference.
Neighbours, friends and family members are often aware of the signs of abuse in an older adult’s life, but they may not know what to do about it.
Need help with transportation? We may be able to help. Call Shauna MacEachern at 705-928-4465.
The Tea & Talk Toolkit was devised from the project Building Foundations in Healthy Relationships for Senior Women that was a collaboration with the Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre and Elder Abuse Ontario in 2013 and funded by the Canadian Women’s Foundation. The Tool Kit has been adapted provincially by Elder Abuse Ontario and being presented to seniors in Lindsay and area on the fourth Tuesday of each month during 2017. Watch for announcements about upcoming sessions.
